BMW M40

BMW was produced this model on 1987 – 1995, but in Indonesia only available until end of 1991 using M40 (1796cc) engine model that producing 115 hp ( 86Kw) and 165Nm of torque. This car powered by Bosch M1.3 fuel injection.

The E30 (318i) series was made in four body style : 2-doorcoupe, 2-doorconvertible,4-doorsedan, and 5-doorstationwagon. Also available on four transmission model ( 2 type automatic and 2 type manual transmission ). This car build in front engine with rear wheel drive as known as FR layout. This design makes BMW can move fastly and smoothly also offer better handling specially in dry condition.

On 1986 the first M3 models was introduced to the market. M3 characteristic is used on race competition. This models was produced to compete with Mercedes Benz W201 series ( 190E ). The racing team , such of AC Schnitzer and Prodrive using this model to abreast of on many race competition.

The M3 was equipped with a revised stiffer and more aerodynamic body shell also wheel-arches to accommodate a wider track with wider. The wheels and tires also taller than regular E30.

Mini Morris

In 1959 British Motor Corporation was produced Mini in first time. Mini was produced in 1959 – 2000, and in 1999 mini was voted as the second influential car of the 20th century. This car was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis. There are two brands that we know, Austin and Morris, but basically that cars are the same. Austin version known as Austin se7en ( Austin seven ) and Morris known as Mini Minor. The different from both of cars were located on grill design, Austin use chromed grill and Morris have grill painted in white.

In first production they used A-series Engine ( 848cc) and in 1967 there was an option engine offered ( 998cc). In 1993 the new engine with 1275cc installed in Mini.The Most famous model is Mini Cooper that was produced in 1961 and stop production in 1971. That was begun from John Cooper idea to develop car that can be used as passenger car with good handling and can move fast on rally or race track. So he modified Mini A-series Engine from 848cc improve to 997cc with double carburetor and 7” disc brake. In 1963, new version on Mini was launched. This sport car version named as Mini Cooper and Cooper “S” that were successful in rally competition. Winning in Monte Carlo Rally from 1964 until 1967 make mini becoming more famed. Mini become its own marque in 1969 and in 1980s this car was marketed under Austin.

Mini Clubman was build in 1969, under the ownership of British Leyland. In this model the facelift was design by Roy Haynes, who had previous work for Ford. Some Mini’s fan did not like the new model of the facelift and some of them say that the new models was made with purpose to spare space in engine room. In the same time Mini 1275GT was launched to public. This model was prepare to replace their predecessor ( Mini Cooper S), but their performance as not good as Mini Cooper S, ever they have same engine capacity ( 1275cc).

Toyota Corolla E100

This Corolla was the seventh generation of Corolla that was produced by Toyota under the corolla brand. This car was imported in 1992 – 1995 for Indonesian market. In Indonesia this model was known as Great Corolla. Most people like this model at that time because this car was larger and heavier and even aerodynamic than their predecessor.

In Indonesia the most demanded is 4 door sedan models with 4A-FE or 4A-GE engine model, and even until now people still looking for this model and the price is quite higher compared to the their successor ( corolla E110). The differences between 4A-FE and 4A-GE engine are :

• 4A-FE — 1.6 L (1587 cc) I4 cylinder 16v DOHC 115 PS (113 hp/85 kW)

• 4A-GE — 1.6 L (1587 cc) I4 cylinder 20v DOHC VVT 160 PS (158 hp/118 kW)

4A-GE engine is usually modify to race competition purpose. Both of Engines may use manual or automatic transmission and build in fuel injection to replaced carburetor function. In 1992 – 1993 this car was imported use retractable mirror. In 1993, minor face lift and grill were change and not use retractable mirror. This condition maybe cause by Japan market recession and increasing yen.

Corolla E100 use front wheel drive with front engine, in automotive design called FF layout. There were six body style produce by Toyota, such as :

• 4door sedan

• 3door hatchback

• 5door hatchback

• 2door coupe

• 3door liftback

• 4door station wagon

In Indonesian market only available for 4 door sedan.This car was produced to fulfill Japan, Asia, north America, south America, Europe and Australia market.

Mercedes Benz W123

The Mercedes Benz W123 was produced in 1976 to 1985. This model is one of the most successfully in selling all over the world. In Indonesia this model was known as "Mercy Tiger". This Mercedes are using 2 engine model, gasoline and Diesel Engine. The diesel engine have 3 engine types ( OM615,OM616 and OM617) and the gasoline was devided into 4 different type of engines ( M115,M102,M123 and M110).

In 1980-1981 the production of carburetor went out and replace by Fuel Injection type. This type is more powerful than their predecessor. The body style of W123 model was made in 3 style, such as Saloon type ( 4 door ), estate type ( 4 door ) and Coupe type ( 2 door ). Some people say that the mercedes w123 is better handling than their successor model ( Mercedes Benz w124 ).

Mercedes produce 2 type of transmission, manual and automatic, for manual transmission devided into 2 different speed, some of using 4 speed and other using 5 speed, for automatic transmission only using 4 speed.

W123 introduced some innovations, one of them is ABS (brake system technology). Available option for selling this car was depend on customer need, for example they can choose MB-Tex (Mercedes-Benz Texturized Punctured Vinyl) upholstery or velour or leather upholstery.
