Mini Morris




In 1959 British Motor Corporation was produced Mini in first time. Mini was produced in 1959 – 2000, and in 1999 mini was voted as the second influential car of the 20th century. This car was designed by Sir Alec Issigonis. There are two brands that we know, Austin and Morris, but basically that cars are the same. Austin version known as Austin se7en ( Austin seven ) and Morris known as Mini Minor. The different from both of cars were located on grill design, Austin use chromed grill and Morris have grill painted in white.

In first production they used A-series Engine ( 848cc) and in 1967 there was an option engine offered ( 998cc). In 1993 the new engine with 1275cc installed in Mini.The Most famous model is Mini Cooper that was produced in 1961 and stop production in 1971. That was begun from John Cooper idea to develop car that can be used as passenger car with good handling and can move fast on rally or race track. So he modified Mini A-series Engine from 848cc improve to 997cc with double carburetor and 7” disc brake. In 1963, new version on Mini was launched. This sport car version named as Mini Cooper and Cooper “S” that were successful in rally competition. Winning in Monte Carlo Rally from 1964 until 1967 make mini becoming more famed. Mini become its own marque in 1969 and in 1980s this car was marketed under Austin.

Mini Clubman was build in 1969, under the ownership of British Leyland. In this model the facelift was design by Roy Haynes, who had previous work for Ford. Some Mini’s fan did not like the new model of the facelift and some of them say that the new models was made with purpose to spare space in engine room. In the same time Mini 1275GT was launched to public. This model was prepare to replace their predecessor ( Mini Cooper S), but their performance as not good as Mini Cooper S, ever they have same engine capacity ( 1275cc).
